Free schools are a new initiative by the new government which states that providing there’s sufficient local demand, parents, teachers or other not-for-profit groups can set up and run their own schools.
There must also be strong reasons why, and a sound business case. These schools would be paid for by the state, open to all children and free from local council control.
Free schools also have greater freedoms in choosing their curriculum.
